The Mental Health and Addictions Advocay Program provides Peer Support and Advocacy to individuals and family members of people with mental illness and\or addiction.
Peer Support is offered by trained volunteers who have personal experience with the issues faced by people, or families of people, with a mental illness or addiction. Under the direction of the Advocate\Coordinator, Peer Supports are resource and support people who can help people navigate through an often confusing system. A Peer Support can help individuals set and achieve short and long term goals, and can assist individuals in advocating on their own behalf..
This program serves the entire West Kootenay\Boundary region from Rock Creek in the west through Salmo & Kaslo in the east and from Nakusp in the north through Trail in the south.
The MHAA Advocate\Coordinator and volunteer Peer Supports can be reached through the FAIR office building. See our Contact Us page.
This program is funded by Interior Health, and community contributions.
