Description:Office Hours: Monday to Thursday: 9am to 12 noon; 1pm to 5pm.

Provides advocacy, education, information and referrals for residents of the West Kootenays in the areas of:

  • Welfare rights
  • Provincial disability benefits
  • Poverty law
  • Affordable housing
  • Residential tenancy issues
  • Family law, including: custody, access, separation, divorce and child welfare. See separate entry for Parenting After Separation Information Sessions.

The Community Based Victim Assistance program (see separate entry in Directory) provides information and assistance to victims of relationship violence, sexual abuse and assault and criminal harassment.

Centre staff will consult on a regional basis on social justice and systemic advocacy issues.

Advocacy staff provide some services out of the Castlegar and District Community Services Centre, 1007 2nd Street on Fridays from 9:30am to 12 noon; 1pm to 4pm. Call 250-608-0589 for an appointment or information.
