Community Service Directories

Responsible for the creation and updating of several compilations of community services including: KB FETCH (www.kb.fetchbc.ca) an online, searchable directory of services in the Kootenay Boundary region, CLOSING THE GAP IN SENIORS CARE: 20 page directories of seniors services in the Kootenay Boundary region and the LOWER COLUMBIA CARING COMMUNITIES MAP of local services.


Lower Columbia Better at Home

Help for older adults to continue living independently  by providing non-medical home support services. Some services may have a fee depending on the senior’s income. Better at Home programs are funded throughout BC by the United Way. The Lower Columbia Better at Home program serves the communities of Rossland through to Fruitvale and surrounding communities.


Mental Health & Substance Use Consumer, Family & Peer Support Programs

Works to support families and individuals in understanding mental health services and develop initiatives for change. Provides resource information and family and peer support options and works to reduce stigma.


Nova Vita Second Stage Housing

Supportive, independent accommodation for women (with or without children) who have left abusive relationships or experienced past abuse The focus is on the development of life skills, achievement of individual goals, and connections to community resources.


Poverty Law Advocate

Provides advocacy services for income assistance, disability assistance, to maintain tenancy, Canada Pension Plan Disability, Employment Insurance, debt, and other income support related programs. The advocate does not provide legal advice, is not a lawyer and does not cover Family Law concerns.
